Chew Valley Plants Trees

Well I’ve been busy on a few fascinating series this year spending most of the year away from home. As I write this I’m in a hotel quarantine returning from a two month stint abroad. During my time away a short film I made last year when covid was heavily disrupting work was featured on BBC Countryfile. It was a real joy of a project to work on. Sound recordist Ellie Williams and myself worked with Ben Moss a few years prior making a film for Triodos Bank and when work dried up we thought we’d see if we could help Ben and his initiative by making them a short film.

Chew Valley Plants Trees is an inspiration initiative, as is Ben Moss and what he and his partner have done on their land. Spending time there was therapeutic, nature all around and the feeling of calm that often follows when visiting places of nature.

Thank you to CVP who allowed me to try out the Black Magic Ursa Mini 12k camera for a few days which coincided with our interview. A fascinating camera. The rest of the film is predominantly shot of a Panasonic EVA1 and my trusty Zeiss Contax lens set.

A huge thank you to everyone who made this project possible.

It was wonderful to work on another passion project, this time as the producer/director, DoP and editor. Once more its wonderful to be donating the fee for the BBC using the film entirely to the initiative. I can’t wait to see how Ben’s land develops over the years.
